About Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo

The Consulate of Mexico in Laredo has existed since December 9, 1879.

Since its inception, consular protection was the main function of the Representation, since since that time the most used route to connect Texas and a large part of the United States with the main Mexican cities was the Laredo border. Thus, the first assignment upon establishing the Consulate consisted of facilitating the return to Mexico of the families who requested it as a result of the annexation of Texas to the United States.

The constituency of the Consulate General covers the counties of Duval, Jim Hog, La Salle, McMullen, Webb, and Shoe in the state of Texas.
